Overview
LOCTITE® FREKOTE R-110™, also known as Aqualine® R-110™, is a water-based, heat-cure mold release agent purpose-built for rubber molding. It chemically bonds to a pre-heated mold surface to form a thin, chemically resistant coating that delivers multiple clean releases without transferring to the molded part, making FREKOTE R-110 a dependable choice for rubber and elastomer manufacturers running hot-mold production.
FREKOTE R-110 is a translucent white, water-based emulsion release agent from Henkel’s Loctite Frekote line. Unlike solvent-based releases, it is non-flammable and freeze/thaw stable, and it cures rapidly on hot molds to form a thin film capable of releasing virtually all natural and synthetic rubber polymers and thermoplastic urethanes, with the exception of silicone elastomers.
Key Features & Benefits
- Fast curing — dries in seconds and fully cures in as little as 4 minutes at 150°C.
- Multiple releases — a single application supports repeated demolding cycles before touch-up.
- Non-flammable — water-based chemistry simplifies storage and handling versus solvent-based releases.
- No contaminating transfer — the cured film stays on the mold, keeping rubber parts clean.
- Freeze/Thaw stable — maintains performance even after cold-chain storage or transport.

How to Apply LOCTITE® FREKOTE R-110™
FREKOTE R-110 is designed for hot-mold rubber processes. Follow these directions for use:
- Clean and dry the mold surface thoroughly, removing all traces of prior release agent using Frekote PMC or Frekote 915WB for heavy build-up. Optimum results are achieved on freshly cleaned molds.
- Apply to molds pre-heated to a minimum of 60°C; FREKOTE R-110 is suitable for mold temperatures up to 200°C.
- Spray using a finely atomized fan pattern. Regulate gun output to 60–90 ml/minute for molds heated from 60–150°C, and 120–150 ml/minute for molds above 150°C.
- At 60°C the coating dries in seconds and fully cures in 30 minutes; at 100°C cure time drops to 10 minutes; at 150°C it dries instantly and cures fully in just 4 minutes.
- For hot molds (120–200°C) or porous molds, apply a minimum of 6 coats. For 60–120°C molds, apply a minimum of 4 coats, taking care to avoid emulsion accumulation and run marks from over-application.
- Allow the release agent to fully cure before starting production, and apply touch-up coats only to areas where release difficulty is noticed.
Storage & Handling
Store FREKOTE R-110 in its unopened container in a dry location. Optimal storage temperature is 8°C to 21°C; storage below 8°C or above 28°C can adversely affect product properties. Material removed from containers may become contaminated during use, so never return unused product to the original container. Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for complete handling information.
Applications & Compatible Materials
FREKOTE R-110 is widely used in rubber and elastomer molding across automotive and transportation components, industrial rubber goods, building and construction seals and gaskets, electrical and electronics insulators, and marine vessel rubber parts. It releases virtually all natural and synthetic rubber polymers and thermoplastic urethanes, with the exception of silicone elastomers.
