PURANATE M26 Modified Polyisocyanate

PURANATE M26 is a modified polyisocyanate from Jiahua Chemicals Inc, based on a functional isocyanate and diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) mixture. Supplied as a brown liquid at room temperature, PURANATE M26 is used as a core raw material in polyurethane foam production, offering good cell openness and high process tolerance for formulators in the automotive, furniture, and toys industries.

PURANATE M26 belongs to the modified polyisocyanate series manufactured by Jiahua Chemicals Inc, a Shanghai-based polyurethane raw material producer. It combines functional isocyanate groups with diphenylmethane diisocyanate to deliver a reactive intermediate suited to a range of flexible polyurethane foam processes, including viscoelastic (memory) foam, continuous slabstock lines, and high-resilience molded foam.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Good cell openness — supports consistent, breathable foam structure across production runs.
  • High process tolerance — forgiving processing window helps foam producers maintain quality despite line variability.
  • Versatile foam compatibility — suitable for viscoelastic foam, continuous line foam, and high-resilience molded foam.
  • Broad end-market fit — used across automotive seating and interior parts, furniture cushioning, and toys.

Applications

PURANATE M26 is widely used in the automobile, furniture, and toys industries, primarily as a raw material for:

  • Polyurethane viscoelastic (memory) foam
  • Continuous line flexible foam
  • High-resilience (HR) molded foam

Storage & Handling

PURANATE M26 should be strictly sealed and stored at room temperature (20–40°C) in a well-ventilated room. Storage below 10°C can cause crystallization; if this occurs, the material must be heated and melted promptly, ideally using a hot air oven with a barrel rolling device at 70–80°C. Local overheating is strictly prohibited, since the product decomposes and releases gas above 230°C. After melting, the contents of the drum must be mixed evenly. Avoid long-term storage above 50°C, which can form insoluble solids and increase viscosity. Under suitable conditions the storage period is 6 months; product slightly beyond shelf life with properties still within specification generally performs normally.

Safe Handling Instructions

Due to its active chemical nature, PURANATE M26 reacts readily with water to form insoluble urea compounds and release carbon dioxide, so it should be protected under dry nitrogen during storage and handling. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention if irritation persists. In case of skin contact, rinse with soapy water. Appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn at all times when handling this product.

Packaging

PURANATE M26 is supplied in 240 kg drums, suitable for standard industrial handling and transport.
