Maxguard™ GT 7540 SC GREEN

Maxguard™ GT 7540 SC GREEN tooling gelcoats are based on epoxy modified vinyl ester. The base resin and the formulations give good mechanical properties, good gloss and flexibility to final products. Also, the chemical resistance is very good which is needed for polyester molds. Available colors are black (GT 7520 S/H) and orange (GT 7068 S/H).

Overview

Maxguard GT 7540 SC GREEN is a tooling gelcoat recommended for the manufacture of various moldings. As one of the recommended international brand products in our auxiliary agent range, this tooling gelcoat is supplied with supply chain resource support for composite manufacturers building molds and tools for downstream FRP production.

Application and Use

This tooling gelcoat is recommended for the manufacture of various moldings and is available in two grades to match different application methods:

  • H grades are suitable for brushing
  • S grades are suitable for spraying

Why Tooling Gelcoats Matter for Mold Manufacturing

Tooling gelcoats are formulated specifically for building molds and plugs used in FRP production, rather than for the finished parts produced from those molds. Because a mold surface is reused repeatedly to cast or laminate many parts, tooling gelcoats are typically selected for surface hardness, dimensional stability, and resistance to repeated demolding cycles, so the mold retains an accurate, defect-free surface over its production life. Choosing between brushing and spraying grades depends on the size and geometry of the tool being built and the equipment available in the shop: brushing grades give fabricators more control on smaller or detailed tooling surfaces, while spraying grades support faster, more even coverage on larger mold surfaces. Formulators and toolmakers should confirm current application parameters and cure schedule against the latest technical data sheet before production use.

FAQ

What is Maxguard GT 7540 SC GREEN used for?

It is a tooling gelcoat recommended for the manufacture of various moldings, used to build molds and tools rather than finished composite parts.

What is the difference between H and S grades?

H grades are formulated for brushing application, while S grades are formulated for spraying application, allowing toolmakers to select the grade that matches their equipment and the tool being built.

Why use a tooling gelcoat instead of a production gelcoat?

Tooling gelcoats are formulated for mold and plug surfaces that are reused across many production cycles, so they are typically selected for surface hardness and dimensional stability rather than the cosmetic finish properties prioritized in production gelcoats.

Can you provide technical documentation and bulk pricing?

Yes, technical data sheets and SDS documentation are available on request, and our team can provide bulk pricing and lead times based on your target volume and delivery location.
